No one will ever properly understand the New Testament without understanding the Old Testament. One of the greatest principles for connecting the two involves understanding the concept of prophetic foreshadowing. God uses prophetic foreshadowing involving people, places, things, events and time to cast a shadow forward, from one event or concept to a later event or concept, which draws our attention to the things God wants to emphasize and communicate.
